The initial years of marriage between her and her husband Eric seemed like an unending journey, brimming with excitement as they faced life’s challenges together, bolstering each other’s ambitions and aspirations.

Tom’s birthday party was supposed to be a joyous occasion the family was looking forward to, but the day suddenly turned from festive to frosty when a cake that exposed a startling secret was delivered. It caused the room to fall into a stunned silence as Tom’s infidelity was publicly uncovered, leaving the guests in a state of shock.

The image plastered across the cake was a screenshot of a text conversation between Tom and someone named Jenna. The messages were clear, unmistakably intimate, words no wife should ever have to read about her husband.

The messages, that no wife should ever hear, were undeniably intimate.

“What is that?” and “Is this some kind of joke?” the guests whispered.

Tom was shocked. He kept switching his sight from the cake to his wife. “Tom, what is this?” she asked loudly.

“It’s not what it looks like, Ella,” Tom stuttered, his gaze flitting nervously across the room as if searching for a way out.

“Not what it looks like?” Ella raised her voice. “It looks like you’ve been cheating on me, Tom. With Jenna? Who is Jenna?”

“Ella, I can explain,” Tom said as he reached out to his wife, but she refused to be touched.

“Explain? In front of everyone? You owe me that much, don’t you?” she said.

“I’m sorry,” Tom whispered, but his words seemed empty, drowned out by the resounding echo of his betrayal.

The party ended abruptly, and the reason was that $30 cake with the truth laid bare on it.
Tom kept pleading and explaining that it was all a mistake, but his words sounded empty.

The anguish of this deception cut deep, yet amid the pain, a sense of determination began to take root within Ella. The respect and the trust were damaged, and what’s a marriage without that?

After being married for 37 years, Ben suddenly dumped his wife Anne and left her for his much younger secretary with whom he had been having a secret affair.

His new girlfriend demanded that she and Ben live together in the large house where Ben had previously lived with his wife. And thanks to his skilled lawyers, Ben managed to get the house in the divorce. He gave his ex-wife, Anne, only three days to move out.

On the first day, she packed all of her stuff into boxes.

When Ben moved into the house with his new girlfriend everything was perfect for the first few days.

But slowly, an unpleasant odor began to spread throughout the house. They tried everything: they cleaned and washed everything they could think of. They checked all the vents to make sure there were no dead mice and scrubbed every carpet in the house. They also installed air purifiers everywhere.

A company that specializes in getting rid of pests came to the house and installed all sorts of traps to kill all possible insects and pests. But nothing worked.

After a while, their friends stopped visiting. Contractors refused to work in the house and the housekeeper quit.

In the end, they never discovered the source of the smell and decided it was better just to move. A month passed and although they lowered their starting price by over 50%, they could not find a buyer for their smelly house. The rumors of the smelly house spread and eventually even the local real estate brokers refused to answer when the couple called. They had to borrow a large amount of money from the bank to afford to buy a new home.

After a while, Ben called his ex-wife Anne to ask how everything was. He told her about the smelly and rotten house. She listened politely to what he said and then told him that she really missed her old home and that she would like to buy back the house.

Ben knew that his ex-wife did not know just how bad the smell was, and he agreed to sell the house to her for a tenth of what the house once was worth, but only if she was willing to sign the papers that day. She accepted immediately.

A week later Ben and his young girlfriend stood happily and flirted while the removal company took out all of their belongings to move to their new home. They were lucky to finally get rid of the smelly house, and Ben felt extremely pleased to have cheated his ex-wife in the deal.

The last items carried out of the house were the curtains.

There were no red flags in our relationship from the very start. Or I was so in love that I just didn’t notice them. But, looking back, I realize that I should’ve been more careful with some moments and inconsistencies that took place during our romance.

I noticed that Bryan was very secretive when I brought up the topic of meeting his parents and his family. He seemed to feel extremely uncomfortable with the very perspective of me meeting his nearest and dearest, and he would just brush it off whenever I mentioned a visit to his parents’ house.
But, being blindsided by my feelings for him, I just kept finding excuses for his weird behavior, explaining it to myself in so many ways. I believed that Bryan had a sort of toxic relationship with his family. I supposed that he might have had some painful past that was the reason for him keeping me a secret from the dearest people in his life.

“I happily ignored the fact that Bryan wouldn’t add me as a friend in any of his social networks, and all his profiles were ‘friends-only’, so I just could see his userpic and some general details about his work, hobbies, etc. I didn’t pay that much attention to it, because Bryan professionally manipulated my feelings and caused an illusion that we were in a serious and long-lasting relationship.

I was invited to my distant friend’s wedding. I had been no contact with the bride for quite some time, all because of the distance and the absence of common interests, but she still invited me to attend her special day and I thought I would pay my respects and be present.

So, I went to a friend’s wedding ceremony all alone, and I was sitting there, enjoying the nice atmosphere and chatting with random people, when I suddenly saw Bryan entering the hall. I froze in shock when I noticed that he was accompanied by a beautiful woman, and she was kissing him and laughing at some nice things he was whispering into her ear.
At that moment I was chatting with a man named Alex, we were sharing pleasantries and discussing some neutral topics, and then Alex suddenly exclaimed that his friend Bryan has come, with his lovely wife. At that moment, something inside me died. I stood up and left the premises unnoticed. Bryan didn’t see me, and some time after I left, he texted me and told me that he was meeting his great-grandma and that she was very sick.

I know that Bryan has moved out from their place, and he’s living at his parents’ house now. So, their marriage seems to be doomed and I believe they’ll divorce. But this woman is blaming me for her husband cheating on her, when I didn’t even know that he was married. I can’t understand why she blames the other woman instead of her cheating husband? What should I do with all this situation?
