Recently, there\u2019s been a new one making the rounds, puzzling many about its identity and function.\n
I have to admit, I was stumped when I first saw a photo of this particular\u00a0\u00a0tool\u00a0circulating online.\n

Luckily, some people knew exactly what it was.\n
At first glance, it looks like an ordinary tree branch, V-shaped but otherwise unremarkable.\n
Yet, this simple tool has a fascinating history dating back to the 1500s and is associated with a practice known as \u201cWater Dowsing.\u201d\n Also known as a \u201cdiviner,\u201d \u201cdoodlebug,\u201d \u201cwell witch,\u201d or \u201cwater-finder,\u201d this tool was used to locate water.\n The process involved holding both branches of the stick in each hand, palms facing upwards, with the stem of the V pointing toward the ground at a 45-degree angle.\n The user would then walk back and forth, supposedly detecting vibrations at the bottom of the V indicating the presence of water underground.\n \n \n Interestingly, dowsing with metal rods was originally used in the 1500s to find metals, but the technique later adapted to help people find water in rural areas.\n Watch the video below for more on Water Dowsing!\n Did you know what this\u00a0\u00a0tool\u00a0was for?
