Well, turns out my\u00a0mother-in-law had other plans.\n</p><p>She called up\u00a0my\u00a0workplace without speaking to\u00a0me\u00a0beforehand and asked for me\u00a0to\u00a0be\u00a0their server for their entire Christmas dinner. I\u00a0found out through my\u00a0husband that I\u2019d be\u00a0playing the role of\u00a0their server for their festive family celebration, and my\u00a0Christmas \u2018gift\u2019 would be\u00a0a\u00a0sweet tip and takeout from my\u00a0restaurant. I\u00a0felt like it\u00a0was\u00a0very offensive and couldn\u2019t really understand why they thought it\u00a0was weird that\u00a0I said\u00a0no. Mother-in-law was upset that\u00a0I had taken a\u00a0stand against their Christmas plans.\n</p><p>I\u00a0took the opportunity to\u00a0establish clear boundaries during a\u00a0FaceTime session, emphasizing that such behavior is\u00a0not acceptable. My\u00a0husband stood by\u00a0my\u00a0side through it\u00a0all, supporting the decision to\u00a0uninvite everyone who supported this decision.
