But that belief was completely shattered when\u00a0I stumbled upon their will recently.\u201d\n

Meera continued, \u201cI\u00a0was visiting my\u00a0parents when\u00a0I found the will in\u00a0one of\u00a0their drawers. \u201cMy\u00a0parents had decided to\u00a0leave everything\u2014the family home, the land, the savings, and even some cherished heirlooms\u2014to my\u00a0brother. Not a\u00a0single mention was made of\u00a0me. At\u00a0first, I\u00a0thought it\u00a0had to\u00a0be\u00a0a\u00a0mistake, but then\u00a0I read the part where they had written that my\u00a0brother, being the son, would inherit everything because \u2019he will need to\u00a0support his future family and provide for them.\u2019\n

The will further explained that since I\u2019m married and my\u00a0husband takes care of\u00a0me, I\u00a0don\u2019t need any inheritance. They believed my\u00a0brother, as\u00a0a\u00a0man, should have it\u00a0all because one day he\u00a0would have his own family to\u00a0support. It\u00a0even went on\u00a0to\u00a0say that, as\u00a0their daughter, my\u00a0responsibility was now to\u00a0my\u00a0husband\u2019s family, not my\u00a0own.\u201d\n

Meera explained, \u201cI\u00a0was in\u00a0complete shock. My\u00a0parents had always been loving and supportive, so\u00a0seeing this felt like a\u00a0betrayal, as\u00a0though my\u00a0worth was diminished simply because I\u2019m a\u00a0woman. They didn\u2019t even discuss this decision with\u00a0me, and the\u00a0pain\u00a0of\u00a0it\u00a0was overwhelming. When I\u00a0confronted them, they didn\u2019t seem to\u00a0understand why\u00a0I was so\u00a0upset.\n
