For months, the baby\u2019s skin had been thickening, but once exposed to\u00a0the air, it\u00a0became dry and rigid, resembling armor.\n</p><p>Jennie Wilklow remembers the astonishment among the hospital staff as\u00a0her daughter\u2019s eyes swelled shut, and the circulation in\u00a0the baby\u2019s hands and feet was cut off.
