I\u00a0have a\u00a0decent relationship with my\u00a0MIL compared to\u00a0many horror stories\u00a0I hear from friends; she\u2019s pretty sweet and warm. She\u00a0is, however, a\u00a0little over-controlling. Overprotective? I\u2019m not sure of\u00a0the exact word, but she has powerful ideas about things and no\u00a0sense of\u00a0boundaries.\n</p><p>For example, when she stays at\u00a0our house, she takes over the kitchen entirely and insists on\u00a0cooking all our meals. She cooks wonderfully, but she won\u2019t let me\u00a0help her at\u00a0all, and she puts everything away in\u00a0the wrong places\u00a0\u2014 and then insists that her way is\u00a0more logical. However, she only really comes for holidays, and\u00a0I immensely like her. This is\u00a0a\u00a0miracle. I\u00a0didn\u2019t think it\u00a0would happen, incredibly late, but we\u00a0got lucky. When my\u00a0MIL\u00a0heard, she was super excited and said she would come over to\u00a0help\u00a0us get ready for the baby.\n</p><p>She offered to stay for the next 6 months to help out because my husband and I both work long hours, and it will be hard to handle the baby. She is also emotionally invested in this because she genuinely sees herself as part of our family. Many people would consider Things like little sculptures, books, baskets, and stuff utter junk. Our house is\u00a0overstuffed, but it\u2019s reasonably tidy and doesn\u2019t seem like a\u00a0hoarder\u2019s house or\u00a0anything. My\u00a0MIL, on\u00a0the other hand, likes everything surgically clean.\n</p><p>Yesterday, I\u00a0came home from work to\u00a0find the house like a\u00a0fight zone. She went through my\u00a0cabinets, cleared out everything she considered junk, and made several trips to\u00a0Goodwill before\u00a0I got home. I\u00a0was furious and asked her why she would ever do\u00a0this. She said the house has to\u00a0be\u00a0tidy for the baby and that it\u00a0would be\u00a0\u2018dangerous\u2019 for the baby to\u00a0be\u00a0in\u00a0my\u00a0cluttered house.\u201d\n\n</p><div class='\"e599d42b92530cddc130' d678c9ac111a6390ff29>\n<p>\u201cThen she took the next huge bag of\u00a0stuff and tried to\u00a0walk out the door. I\u00a0lost it\u00a0and told her she could get out right now. She was shocked that\u00a0I was serious, and she said she didn\u2019t have anywhere to\u00a0go, and it\u00a0was so\u00a0late. It\u00a0was about 9:30. I\u00a0booked her a\u00a0hotel room and called a\u00a0taxi.\n</p><p>My husband came home an hour later, and when I told him what happened, he was furious with me.
