Per the Guardian, the Australian actress had just arrived in Venice for the 2024 Venice Film Festival when she learned her mother had passed. Nicole won the award for best actress at the festival for her film\u00a0\u00a0Babygirl, but she was not present as she had returned home to be with her family.\n

Nicole Shared A Statement At The Festival\n

Through the film\u2019s director, Halina Reijn, Nicole shared,\n

\u201cI\u2019m in shock, and I have to go to my family. But this award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me, and she made me. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking,\u201d\u00a0Nicole wrote.\u00a0\u201cAnd my heart is broken.\u201d\n

She later posted to Instagram on behalf of her family thanking everyone for the\u00a0\u201coutpouring of love and kindness.\u201d\n

The caption on a slideshow of Nicole Kidman\u2019s family photos reads,\u00a0\u201cEvery message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express. Thank you from our whole family for respecting our privacy as we take care of each other.\u201d\n

Nicole lost her father, Antony, in 2014 at the age of 75. Friend Naomi Watts shared a message of hope on Nicole\u2019s post.\n

\u201cSending so much love to you both. So sorry for your loss. Your wonderfully spirited mum will be missed by so many. Hopefully, she is now peacefully reunited with your papa xxx love you.\u201d\n
