The young actor suffered serious blunt force injuries in the event, which happened in Vestavia Hills in the 1900 block of Canyon Road. According to his obituary, Meek was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School when he was born on August 5, 2008, to Derek and Lani.\n

He was a well-rounded learner who achieved academic and social success. Meek participated actively in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was a dedicated member of the Vestavia Hills Rebel Football Team, and made contributions to the Student Government Association and Honor Choir.\n
